It's that time of year again and I don't mean Christmas or Thanksgiving. It's the legendary Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and everyone's watching it. I don't care how old you are or if you're a boy or a girl, you don't want to miss it. Tall, flawless women wear exotic wings and gorgeous lingerie. Every guy is drooling over the models and every girl wants to be a VS angel. Let's be honest, it's just normal. But I'm just going to cut right to the point and say how it irrates me when people body shame Victoria's Secret models. I know that might seem impossible and you probaby think I'm crazy for saying that. But today's society makes nearly everyone feel bad about their bodies. Either you're "too big", "too skinny", "too athletic", or "too weak". Everyone has heard of the nasty things people say even no one has made one of these comments about you. The reason why I say people body shame Victoria's Secret models is because some say the models "starve themselves" to get their body to look like that. People say they look underfed and are just too skinny. I'm sure a lot of people have seen posts where they compare Victoria's Secret models to the Dove Real Beauty Campaign. The Dove Real Beauty Campain shows what average women look like realistically and they are beautiful, as are other models. I just don't think it's fair to compare Victoria's Secret models to the women in the Dove campain. These models work very hard for thier bodies and have vigorous workouts to stay fit and look toned. They aren't starving themselves but they also don't eat junk everyday. These women eat right and workout and their genes definitely have to do with how their bodies look. So just because they are smaller than other women doesn't give the right for people to shame them for working out. I honestly think body shaming is for people who aren't comfortable in their own skin. There will be many girls, including myself, watching the Victoria's Secret Fashion show, hating their lives because they don't look like that. But I will also be sitting at home on the couch eating pizza watching it on TV. I think you also have to make peace with your body. It's completely fine that I don't look like that. In all honeslty I would rather sit at home with my friends and watch the show. I think the Victoria's Secret Fashion show and the Dove Real Beauty Campain shows us that confidence is the real beauty. If you feel confident about how you look and you love your body you will be a lot happier with yourself and everyone else.
