Airport Attire

Over Christmas break, I went to the airport to get a flight back home to Indiana to see my loving fam. I've been traveling since I was very little and all I remember is my mother telling me to wear something comfortable for the flight. In her defense it was a long 11 hour flight and it made sense wearing track suits and running shoes. But now that I'm older and after the many years of people watching, I have found that there are a couple of types of people in airports: "the travelers", "the fashionistas", and "the practicals".

The Travelers typically wear chacos and use hiking backpacks as their carryon bag. They're not hard to pick out. They travel in groups and they look like they're about to hit the trails. ((Also personal opinion: I think Chacos are the ugliest shoe I have ever seen and they're becoming unbelievably popular among young college students. Why? Why? WHY? Are you trying to looking like a 50 year old hippie living out of a van? Just wondering. There are so many other options in footwear that are more fashionable.

The Practicals dress comfortably; nothing too fancy. They know it's just a flight so they wear their normal clothes except with a pair of comfortable shoes. They don't want to be wearing heels if they have to run for a flight or if they'll be walking all day. These are usually moms with children or older people. Comfort is everything in their world.

The fashionistas find airports the perfect place to test outfits out. If you have something in your closet you normally don't wear, wear it to the airport. Why? Well have you seen the people at the airport? Exactly. You're not about to get judged for what you're wearing and you're never going to see these people again. Some are going to China, others are going to Utah. So wear that snakeskin mini skirt. These girls usually wear heels with skirts, and designer coats, carrying their Louis Vouitton luggage and matching hand bag of course. Their makeup is obviously done and their hair is perfectly straightened because why not look your best? However, you don't have to be wearing heels and skirts just to fit under this category. Honestly anything trendy and fashionable would count. Most celebrities manage to wear something stylish as well as comfortable.

I recently got this taupe faux fur coat for my birthday and I wore it over an all leather black tank top and black high waisted skinny jeans. I paired this outfit with black ankle booties. I wore it with my matching Michael Kors purse. (ft. new taupe pom pom)
